Wildlife Wong and the Bearded Pig

I enjoyed this book. I think that the most interesting part is when Wildlife Wong tells his story about how he liked taking care of animals since childhood and devoted his life to caring for them. I also found the information about how they researched the bearded pigs fascinating. A captivating fact I learnt is that bearded pigs used to migrate to find food up until 50 years ago. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes animals and wants to learn more about them.

Our students love Sarah’s books and are fascinated by the environmental issues and the endangered animals the books are based on. Wildlife Wong books align closely to many curriculum priorities across all primary school levels. Highly recommended!

This book has interesting facts about the life of bearded pigs. Both kids and adults will learn a lot. I thought it was amazing that if you stretched out a pig’s intestines, they would be 10 metres long! I recommend this book to anyone who loves animals or the environment, or just if you’re looking for something interesting to read.

Another excellent book by Dr Sarah Pye. She has a knack for giving information in an easy-to-read and fascinating style. I wonder what she will tell us about in her next book. In the meantime, I learnt about the Bearded Pig.

This book is educational and fun. Dr Sarah Pye has written another great children’s non-fiction book to teach our younger generation about the importance of saving the world’s wildlife. This book places a spotlight on the bearded pig through facts, a glossary of new words at the end of the book and experiments for readers to try. If you are an educator who needs a creative way to teach about wildlife, I suggest getting your hands on this book.

Including fun pictures, detailed sketches and experiments Wildlife Wong and the Bearded Pig is another great addition to the Wildlife Wong series. Fun experiments that relate to the story are included and really engage reluctant readers. My favourite was making a 3D map like the topographic maps Wildlife Wong uses in real life. A book you must have on your young readers bookshelf as it is fun for both kids and adults.

In the newest book in the series, Dr. Sarah Pye writes about how Wildlife Wong spends three years in the jungle trying to trap bearded pigs. I heard about this book in a meeting, and even though I’m not in the age group, I was curious. What a wonderful surprise, I'm so glad I decided to take a chance. I feel as if I personally know Wong, and the family of pigs too. A lot of information clearly written and not talking down to the reader. There are multiple lessons to be shared about the forests and our earth too. I'm sure all the books in this series would be perfect for your brilliant children, and their parents.
